TOKYO - Aiwa Co., Ltd. has introduced the AM-CL33 portable mini disc (MD) player, which is available in three colors, each with a different design. This is a fashionable MD player that offers great operability.

The AM-CL33 targets young MD users, from pre-teens to those in their 20s, who like to choose a player based on design and color. The new unit comes in three colors - blue, pink, and yellow. While each color offers a different design, all have a fashionable yet casual transparent finish.

The AM-CL33's many features include approx. 70-hour continuous playback; program search function that allows listeners to see the title of every track on the LCD remote control unit and select the ones they want to hear; programmable playback that lets users select up to 25 tracks and play them in any order; a backlit LCD remote control unit with 10-character display; an alarm function that can prevent commuters from missing their bus or train stop, or help fitness buffs time their workouts; and a 40-second skip preventing memory.

* Power-saving function to extend battery life
When the main unit's "Hold" switch is turned to power save ON, the battery life can be extended during playback by canceling the display on the LCD remote control.
* Program search function allows listeners to see the title of every track and select the ones they want to hear.
Listeners can view the titles on the remote control unit's LCD panel even while a disc plays.
* 25-track programming allows listeners to hear their favorite songs in the order they choose.
* Backlit LCD remote control unit with 10-character display
The LCD on the remote control unit makes it easy to read the disc name and track name and number, see the three-step battery level indicator, and monitor the AM-CL33's operation even in the dark. What's more, listeners can simply use the multi jog dial to set the playback mode, track search, alarm, hearing protector, and contrast.
* Convenient alarm functions
The alarm is programmable from 1 minutes up to 180 minutes, with a duration of up to 30 seconds. This convenient feature reminds listeners when their bus or train stop is coming up, and can help time workouts.
* 40-second skip preventing memory eliminates skips caused by shock and vibration.
* Three-step Dynamic Super Linear (DSL) bass ensures natural reproduction of low-frequency sounds.
* Resume function allows playback to restart from the point where it stopped.
* Repeat (one program/all programs) playback/random playback
* Hearing protector function prevents sudden surge in the sound level.
* Monaural playback mode
The AM-CL33 can automatically recognize and play back MDs recorded in monaural mode.
