TOKYO - Aiwa Co., Ltd. has introduced a fashionable portable MD player, the AM-HX70, which offers an excellent array of features yet is perfect for carrying.

The AM-HX70 has a convenient power-save function and track selection functions, including program search function that allows listeners to see the title of every track and select the one they want to hear; and 25-track programmable playback function to select up to 25 tracks and play them in any order desired. Other features include: (1) A wavy, iridescent finish on the exterior, available in three colors; (2) Approximately 67 hours continuous MD playback; (3) Digital tone processor lets listeners select their favorite sound quality; (4) Sentence repeat, which is convenient for MD playback when studying a foreign language; and (5) Convenient alarm functions to remind commuters when their bus or train stop is coming up, or to help time workouts.

* Clear coating with wavy, iridescent finish on exterior
Three base colors - blue, red, and white - are available for the main unit and remote control unit. The surface of the main unit is highlighted by a glossy, beautiful clear-coating finish. This wavy, iridescent finish is an eye-catching design feature that alters color as the viewing angle changes.
* 13.5mm-wide compact body
* Power-save function boosts battery life.
By activating the power-save function on the main unit's HOLD switch, the LCD remote control unit is not displayed when playing back MDs, thus increasing battery life.
* Approximately 67 hours of continuous playback, using both the rechargeable battery and included alkaline battery.
* Digital tone processor
Listeners can select their favorite tones from three patterns - high sound (-3~+3) and low sound (-3~+6).
* Sentence repeat, convenient for MD playback when learning a language.
Listeners can repeatedly play back a sentence that is punctuated with approx. half a second of silence.
* Program search function allows listeners to see the title of every track and select the ones they want to hear.
Listeners can view the titles on the remote control unit's LCD panel even while a disc plays.
* 25-track programmable playback function lets users select up to 25 tracks and play them in the order they choose.
* Backlit LCD remote control unit with 10-character display
The LCD on the remote control unit makes it easy to read the disc and track names and track number, and monitor the unit's operation even in the dark.
* Convenient alarm functions
The alarm is programmable from 1 minutes up to 180 minutes, with a duration of up to 30 seconds. This convenient feature reminds listeners when their bus or train stop is approaching, and can help time workouts.
* 40-second skip preventing memory eliminates skips caused by shock and vibration.
* Resume function allows playback to restart from the point where it stopped.
* Repeat (one program/all programs) playback/random playback
* Ear-guard function prevents the sound volume from going too high.
* Monaural playback mode
The AM-HX70 can automatically recognize and play back MDs recorded in monaural mode.
* Perfect-fit headphones
Silicone rubber air cushions on ear caps ensure a tighter seal with the ear for enhanced bass reproduction.
