SONY'S PSYC LINE COMBINES COOL LOOKS AND HOT TECHNOLOGY TO BECOME A TRUE FASHION ICON

PARK RIDGE, N.J., Feb. 25, 2004 -Merging avant-garde style with progressive technology, Sony's latest line of PSYC® portable audio players dare trend-setters to accessorize with music.

"Style-makers call the look branché or hip; we call it PSYC", said Joe Novelli, director for portable audio products at Sony Electronics. "Portable audio products have become a real fashion accessory and an outlet for personal expression. You just have to look at what our designers have come up with for this year's PSYC product line to know what's hot."

The PSYC line is taking on an edgier, glam-rock turn with a more streamlined design that infuses shots of chrome and neon into not-so-basic black, white and grey. The addition of ATRAC® technology-based Psyc products, including a Net MD™ recorder and ATRAC CD Walkman® players, assures that fashion-conscious digital music fans will enjoy high quality sound and high storage capacity without sacrificing style.

This year's PSYC product wardrobe begins with CD Walkman players, CD clock radios and CD boomboxes offered in a choice of flare-white with a touch of chrome and neon red, or gleam-black with chrome and neon green accents.

For those truly special listening occasions, check out the new PSYC ATRAC CD Walkman model in glow-gray accentuated with chrome and neon green or a Net MD Walkman digital music player in spark-gray with juicy bursts of neon orange.

Psyc Net MD Digital Music Player

The new Psyc Net MD recorder is a marriage of function and form. Cool gray tones mingle with orange and silver, adding sex appeal to the one of the most popular digital music formats. The MZ-N420DPSGRAY model offers high-speed music transfer from a PC via a direct USB connection. It can record more than five hours of music on one 80-minute disc in LP4 mode.

Looking good can go on forever with the Net MD recorder's ability to provide 56 hours of continuous playback on one "AA" battery. The Psyc Net MD Walkman digital music player will be compatible with the Connect™ online music service. It will be available in April for less than $100.

The Psyc D-EJ100 CD Walkman players make their debut with a new full-circle design in a choice of black or white. The models come equipped with color-matched h.ear clip-on headphones and a remote for a totally coordinated look. Sony's virtually skip-free G-Protection™ technology has also been incorporated to eliminate or reduce skipping during many active uses. Extended battery life provides up to 45 hours of continuous playback on two "AA" batteries, while an off-timer auto shut off function helps conserve battery life. The attention-getting D-EJ100 models will be available in April for about $50.

The new Psyc ATRAC CD Walkman players pack a wealth of features into a cool-looking package and will playback ATRAC3plus™ and MP3 encoded CD-R/RW discs.

The D-NE300 model flaunts the spark-gray and orange color scheme in a clean, full-circle design. It supports CD text and ID3 tagging for organizing tracks, and includes Sony's Jog Dial™ control. With its extended battery life, the model can achieve more than 80 hours of continuous playback with two "AA" batteries. Additionally, this player is enhanced with advanced features like a customizable parametric equalizer to adjust sound preference, an off-timer that helps you pre-determine your listening time and save on they unit's battery life, and an auto rank function that plays back songs in the order in which they are most often listened.

The ethereal glow-gray Psyc D-NF400 ATRAC CD Walkman player expands on the features of the D-NE300 model by adding a built-in AM/FM/TV Weather digital tuner and 51 preset stations.

Both players are bundled with Sony's new SonicStage® 2.0 software and are compatible with the new Connect online music service. They will be available in March for about $60 and $80, respectively.
